Returning from a three year stint in the Nab League (formerly Tac Cup), Paul is back as Head Coach of our Futures for 2019. He has a very strong focus on providing the playing group with a genuine pathway into Senior footy in an environment that allows every player to reach their full potential.
The Futures are coming off back to back Grand Final appearances. Whilst we will be striving to reach finals once again, our primary objective will be to see growth and development in the pursuit of continual improvement. Paul will be ably assisted by recently retired and club legend Michael “Finners” Findlay (Offensive Coach) and Darren “DK” Keighran who played at the highest level with Richmond (Defensive Coach)

FUTURES (U19) HEAD COACH
Paul’s football career began playing with the East Doncaster Junior Football Club. From here he then proceeded to play at Fitzroy in the U19s which he captained in his top age year. He then played a number of games with the Fitzroy reserves. Paul then moved on to play in the VFA, with Preston (now the Northern Blues), before an early retirement.
Paul has a background as a P.E teacher, which has been of great value, since taking up a variety of coaching roles, beginning in 2008. He has been primarily involved at Blackburn, coaching from U’9s through to U19’s, having a number of very successful years, during this time. Paul also has experience as an assistant coach in the EFL Interleague and recently he had a 3 year stint with Eastern Ranges in the TAC competition, as a forward and defensive line coach. During this time, Paul had the opportunity to help develop young talent moving into the AFL ranks, including our own Ryley Stoddart and Xavier O’Neill.
Paul has lived in Blackburn for 25years and has two boys, who have both played all of their junior and senior football at Blackburn.

FUTURES (U19) OFFENSIVE COACH
Michael’s playing career started in the late 1990s as a junior at East Burwood Football Club. Having trained with the Oakleigh Chargers at the age of 15, Finners had a number of injuries that stopped him consistently getting on the park. Years later, he followed his older brother (James) across to the burners and has never looked back since.
Several years in and out of the twos he decided to hang the boots up and focus on coaching.
Michael has learnt a lot from previous coaches around the club and continues to evolve his knowledge to coaching. He is striving for that Silverwear to return to Morton Park.
Michael is a local Primary School teacher and believes that the opportunities that the BFC offer many young men and women are beneficial to a healthy life.
