From humble beginnings in 1928, Vittorio De Bortoli first made wine for family and friends to be enjoyed at La Tavola Lunga – the long table. De Bortoli Wines has since expanded and consolidated under two further generations. The company is now under the direction of Vittorio’s four grandchildren – Darren, Leanne, Kevin and Victor.
De Bortoli Wines is still very much a family business with a strong reputation for premium wine, firstly through their iconic dessert wine Noble One, and then the success of the cool climate wines produced at the family’s Yarra Valley Estate.
A move towards sustainable vineyard practices, and an increasing fascination with single vineyard wines, shows innovation playing as important a part in the family business as tradition.
